As promised today I’m sharing the recipe for my Lemon Garlic Orzo. In my last post I shared my Greek Yogurt Sauce recipe with you. Next time I will share my Greek Turkey Ball recipe to complete all the dishes from one of my favorite meals. I’m telling you it’s so delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. This lemon garlic orzo is a super easy and versatile side dish.
In this recipe I used jarred garlic as well. I know some people don’t care much for jarred garlic, but I love it. It is a bit milder than fresh garlic which also love. If I’m looking to minimize the heat from fresh garlic, I will always reach for the jarred. If you only have fresh garlic on hand that’s ok. Just sauté the garlic in a little bit of butter until golden to sweeten up the flavor. I get my jarred garlic from Costco.
This recipe calls for lemon peel and I find using a vegetable peeler works great. You’ll get a nice thin slice avoiding the bitter white pith. I use to have a thing with collecting peelers and probably have four. Are you judging me again!? Lol!
I’ll probably include measuring spoons and cups in every post. Like I’ve mentioned in previous posts I love the colored ones because it makes them easier to spot in my kitchen drawers. This set is an awesome deal.
Stainless steel knives used to be my jam but recently I only reach for my ceramic knives. This knife is my favorite. Which do you prefer steel or ceramic? Let us know in the comments below.
All in one pot with a strainer in the lid are the best. I have a large pot like this and really need to invest in a smaller one. I was thinking about getting this 4 quart pot. It’s on sale too! What do you think? If you have any recommendations for a pot like this please leave them in the comments down below.
Peel half of the lemon avoiding the bitter white pith
Thinly slice peel
Cook orzo according to package directions and add lemon peel to the pot at the same time as the orzo
Drain and add olive oil, lemon juice, red onion, and jarred garlic
Season with salt and pepper
Stir to combine
If you don't have jarred garlic on hand. Use 2 cloves of fresh garlic and sauté in a little bit of butter until golden.
Can also be served chilled
