Are you ready for the battle of longwear eyeliner? NARS recently release their new High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliners. I thought it would be fun to put them up against the cult favorite Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliners to see which one will reign supreme (Where are my food network fans? Comment below if you know what I’m referring to here lol)!
In this post, I’ll start by giving you information on each of the eyeliners, show you some swatches, followed by a short video showing you how each look on the eyes, and finally, we will reveal the winner. Let’s dive in!
The NARS longwear eyeliner come in 16 shades (10 currently available at Sephora.com) in a variety of finishes. Such as metallic, matte, and glitter. They retail for $24 and have 0.04 oz of product in each.
The claims: A highly pigmented, gel-like eyeliner pencil that delivers long-lasting wear. Unprecedented intensity in just one swipe. This gel-like formula glides on with comfortable ease, instantly depositing rich color that’s blendable, then sets exactly where you want it for up to 12 hours. The sharpen-able tip defines waterlines and smokes out lash lines (sharpener sold separately).
The Marc Jacobs liners come in over 30 shades also in a variety of finishes. They offer shimmer, matte, and satin finishes. These retail for $25, but you only get 0.01 oz of product in each.
The claims: A gel pot eyeliner in a crayon that delivers intense color and 12-hour waterproof wear and amazing glide in shimmer and matte finishes. Experience the luxury of gel eyeliner with the ease of a pencil. Make a bold statement with this extreme-wear, waterproof eyeliner that glides on effortlessly to deliver instant color payoff. Exclusive to Marc Jacobs Beauty, the super-malleable formula offers versatility of application. Apply Highliner for flawless, precise lines, or smudge immediately after lining for an instant smoky eye.
Ok, so I noticed very little difference between these two products. They’re both nicely pigmented. However, I did feel as though the NARS liner glided onto my eyes a little easier, but the Marc Jacobs liners swatched better on my hand. In terms of long-wear, neither really lasted the full 12 hours, but in my opinion, the NARS liner looked better after a long day.
Like I mentioned earlier in this post, the Marc Jacobs liners are a cult favorite and have incredible reviews. I’m shocked that the NARS liners are falling short in the reviews department. I can’t stop reaching for them.
The deciding factor comes down to how much bang you’re getting for your buck. You get four times more product for basically the same price with the NARS liners than you do with the Marc Jacobs liners. With those numbers, the winner is a no brainer. I choose NARS!!
Have you tried either of these eyeliners? Which one is your favorite? Maybe you know of one even better than these. Let us know in the comments down below!
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and reading! Please take a moment to like and share this post if you enjoyed it. I also hope you’ll consider subscribing before you leave.
Until next time be happy, be kind, be you!
